- The company I work for (Rosemount Inc.) manufactures two types of
- silicon pressure transducers. One type is a strain-guage type thing.
- The other type is a capacitor where one "plate" is moved by the
- pressure being measured. Both are built out of silicon using
- microlithography techniques.
-
- We also make metal capacitance and metal vibrating beam pressure
- sensors.
-
- These can be built to measure absolute or differential pressure.
-
- Rosemount's pressure transmitters are sold mostly into the process
- control marketplace (oil companies, chemical companies, paper mills,
- that sort of thing).
-
- There are several Rosemount sales offices in Texas (Huston, Dallas,
- Freeport, San Antonio, Midland, Beaumont, Corpus Christi). They are
- used to dealing with Exxon, Dow, and people like that -- I'm not sure
- if they deal much with individuals or shools.
-
- A good place to look for other sensors would be in any of the process
- control trade magazines.
