- One would not think that diffuse matter would have a much greater effect on
- damping perpendicular motion than stars, but the role which hydrodynamic
- effects play is mostly unknown. Could a rapid starburst drive out sufficient
- gas/dust to prevent the collapse into a disk? Or does disk formation preceed
- star formation in spirals, while ellipticals consume gas which would otherwise
- provide hydrodynamic damping?
