- Did they perhaps have an encounter with a "Little-John?"
-
- A Little-John is a propane powered toilet that burns #2, and goes out if used
- for #1. For many years Camp Frank Rand (Great Southwest Council -- Located
- neary Chimayo NM, 100 or so miles south of Philmont) had two of these in most
- of the sites. When used properly, they actually only smelled for a few minutes
- and made for little waste. But with Boy Scouts, they often went out and caused
- other problems.
-
- I heard that they were finally eliminated a year or so ago, after the last time
- I was there.
-
- Of course, the camp I went to arround here last week only has old pits that the
- scouts complain about having to clean -- and occationally use.
