- Hi there,
-
- I was wondering if anyone would be so kind to give me some tips on running
- down very steep hills. I don't intentionally run _down_ hills, my initial
- goal was to run UP them. Then I realized that I have to go back down them
- at some point. :/
-
- Anyway, what I see as my biggest problem is fear of tripping and falling, take
- a step in the wrong place and kill and ankle. So when I run down, I tend to
- take it very easy...then I feel like I'm exerting more energy than I should
- in slowing myself down. I also feel the pressure that's being placed on my
- knees by slowing down. Before the summer, I had an experienced running partner
- who seemed to take pleasure in running down hills and made it look so easy.
- So he would fly down the hills and then wait for me at the bottom.
-
- So how do I convince myself that I won't wind up hurting myself by letting
- gravity help me in running?
-
- Thanks,
- Pomona Valero
-
- PS BTW, I have this same problem with skiing...I'm afraid to go too fast so
- I tend to use a lot of energy to slow myself down a bit.
