- Three years ago I took up running again. After only a few gentle runs my
- right hip locked up with accompanying pain. I stopped running, and after
- a while the problem went away. I've played basketball and tennis since then
- (and before) with no problems. So five weeks ago I decided to try running
- again, but after only one brief run the pain came back, and persisted
- since, despite no exercise since then (other than stretching).
-
- I have tight muscles, and the two doctors I have seen think it is bursitis
- or tendonitis. x-rays show no obvious degenerative problems. A week of
- 800 mg Ibuprofen three times a day made no difference. Today they gave
- me Naproxin to try instead. I've also been to physical therapy three
- times, which has led to short-term improvement, but not much long term
- effect. I also now stretch twice a day.
-
- My goal is to get rid of the pain and to be able to run actively again.
- (I ran in high school and after college for a few years, and I'm now 34.)
-
- Has anybody had a similar problem?
-
- Thanks,
-
