- Greetings fellow techies,
-
- My friend and I were having a discussion about rotory (wankel)
- engines as in the Mazda RX-7. I've always heard that the
- wankel is a great design. Powerful and simple. I am curious as
- to why Mazda is the only company producing them. These engines
- have been around for some time and I don't think Mazda owns the
- patent on them. If it's such a great design, why don't other
- companies produce them? Why does Mazda only use this engine in
- the RX-7 model? Hey, inquiring minds want to know! :-)
