  14.     Here's one that's got me stumped (no great feat).  1986 Toyota
  15. Tercel, 4-speed: pulling out of a gas station last night, there was a
  16. resounding clunk!, and suddenly we had no gears.  The transmission felt
  17. like the 4-speed+reverse pattern was gone, replaced by a random set of
  18. points (it felt like a transmission implementation of the drunkard's
  19. walk).  We got it into something that resembled neutral, and pushed it
  20. _backwards_ into a parking spot.  After much hemming and hawing as to
  21. what to do, I decided to try it again before calling the tow truck, and
  22. lo-and-behold, the transmission had magically been healed (and Jimmy
  23. Swaggart was not even in the neighborhood).  Any ideas on the cause of
  24. this fleeting malady?
