- The Ultra-drive is supposedly fixed on 92 models, all prior years have
- problems. I've a 1990 Grand Caravan, a month ago mine fail totally at
- 44,000 mi. The perform the repair and in essense an upgrade to
- '92 level "kit" upgrade. The transmission shifts smoother than alot of
- other Chrysler and non-Chrysler trannys. There goes my excuse to buy
- a new Caravan :-)
-
- It is a series of fixes inside the transmission relating the the computer
- and stuff. The only mod not performed is the change in torque convertor
- which relates to slow speed smoothness.
-
- Hopefully, the previous owner has paperwork to show the work was performed.
- You can't tell otherwise. An experience owner of a bad transmission
- that was repaired can tell after driving a while.
-
- My complaint is that it took a complete failure before the dealer agreed
- to perform the standard upgrade. Basically, wait until it fails completely.
