- Well, what I tried to say is that you don't want an OPEN circuit, either. I've
- seen cars where people pull off the high tension side of the ignition circuit
- to keep it from starting, which causes alot of problems 'down the road'. I'm
- sure a short would be, as you mention, bad as well. The point I tried to
- make (but didn't very well, I really HAVE to start getting more sleep) is that
- you should check for spark under similar electrical load conditions to what
- the system is operating at normally, e.g. use a spark plug.

- P.S. If you need to keep it from starting, just pull off the wire from the points
- to the coil...if you have newer stuff than that, good luck; I've never had to
- deal with it on my newer cars :)
