  24. It costs 1.5 times as much because people are willing to pay for 
  25. (a) no cracks and pops
  26. (b) much higher degree of "toughness" - LP's are too easy to scratch
  27. (c) much improved portability
  28. (d) fancy-looking disks  
  29. (e) a reasonable carrying case (IMHO LP sleeves never did work... tear,
  30. wear out, cause dust, etc. etc.)

  32. IMHO, the extra cost is definitely worth it for the jewel box alone.

  34. And remember that the mass market buyer's stereo isn't good enough to tell
  35. the difference... and the mass market is the group that quit buying LP's...
