- It costs 1.5 times as much because people are willing to pay for
- (a) no cracks and pops
- (b) much higher degree of "toughness" - LP's are too easy to scratch
- (c) much improved portability
- (d) fancy-looking disks
- (e) a reasonable carrying case (IMHO LP sleeves never did work... tear,
- wear out, cause dust, etc. etc.)

- IMHO, the extra cost is definitely worth it for the jewel box alone.

- And remember that the mass market buyer's stereo isn't good enough to tell
- the difference... and the mass market is the group that quit buying LP's...
