- UGH!!!
-
- In my opinion, mini systems are for those who think sounds coming through
- a styrofoam cup with a string attached are Ok.
-
- I know somebody who spent $500 on one of those mini system. Sounds great
- if your listening room is a closet or the equivalent. It sounds decent at
- low volume, but it is hopeless at a higher volume. These things are only
- around 20 watts.
-
- If your listening area is small, spend $300 for something like a pair of
- Bose 301 and the rest on a decent amplifier, tape deck, and CD player.
- Put all these together, you got something that gives you as much functions
- as those mini systems while sounding a whole lot better. In addition, it's
- upgradable.
-
- Just a thought, the $500 mini system my friend got won't let you control
- the recording level or balance when recording to a tape. But it has one of
- these nifty button that at one touch you can record an entire content of
- a CD to a tape. USELESS!!
