- Have any of you out there ever dealt with auto insurance claims? Here's my
- situation: Recently, my '81 Toyota Corolla Tercel was rear-ended on an
- entrance ramp to Storrow Drive in Boston. The bumper was bashed in and the
- trunk lock doesn't latch now. The other driver's insurance company,
- Liberty Mutual, considers the cost of repair to be more than the value of the
- car. (They're probably right - body work is extremely expensive.) What we
- disagree on is the value of the car. This car is in very good mechanical
- condition. I've put in a lot of new parts recently, and I don't see how I
- could get a comparable car for much less than $900. I've seen similar
- models on sale for $700-$800; I'd probably accept something in that range.
- Liberty Mutual is offering me a mere $450. How do I go about challenging
- this? Thanks in advance.
