- Your signature line seems oddly appropriate in this case. Since you
- seem to be having trouble handling decent fiction (writer's block),
- you might turn to reality.
-
- I wish that I could remember where I read this, but it is very
- effective for me:
-
- Go outside, to some place where you can watch people--a park, a main
- street, whatever--and observe them. Try to describe everything that
- you notice about them, and even things that you can't see but expect
- are there (personality, attitudes, dreams & desires). Then start
- conjecturing about how they got that way, what their major influences
- were, what types of people they hang out with, who their parents were.
-
- Soon you have a very developed character, and probably a story to go
- with him or her. Once your muse is back, you (hopefully) can focus
- you attention on your work in progress again.
-
- I hope this helps. Good luck!
