- V-Com did me very well. I ordered a 386/40 with 100 meg drive, 128k cache,
- etc... They put a 124meg drive (Maxtor) and a 256k cache into it. Never did
- get a very good explanation for why, but that system is the fastest 386
- machine I have ever seen, and runs perfectly. I took the standard keyboard
- option, and though the keys feel great, the whole thing is a little small.
- (There isn't much space at the top for keyboard templates) Everything else
- was exactly as ordered over the phone.
-
- One thing I wondered about, they installed windows in real mode. 386/40 with
- 4 megs ram. Real mode? Took 10 mins to fix, but for the longest time I was
- wondering why the stupid thing wouldn't run half of the windows apps we had.
