  11. The other evening, my wife was in the LUCKY supermarket.
  12. [Located in El Cerrito, CA nearby the corner of San Pablo and Moser.]

  14. She purchased goods worth approx $10 and paid via a check for
  15. $40 over purchase.

  17. Unfortunately, she then walked out of the store forgetting both
  18. the cash and the receipt.  My wife did not realize her error until
  19. the next evening when she looked in her wallet.

  21. Given that such a long period of time had passed, 
  22. we both assumed that the money was likely irretrievable.
  23. But, she phoned the LUCKY market and described what had happened.
  24. The concrete information was very sparse: the approximate time
  25. of day, the dollar amount of purchase, the amount of the check, 
  26. and a description of the employee at the checkout stand.

  28. The bookkeeper at the supermarket listened and said he would look into it.

  30. The following day (approximately 48 hours after my wife left the 
  31. cash behind) she went to the LUCKY market.  The bookkeeper greeted her
  32. and gave her the $40.
