  13. I would like to make some clarifications on the discussion of MSG that I
  14. started.  First I meant to say "Hydrolyzed protein", not "Hydrolyzed salt".
  15. This, along with "sodium caseinate" and "natural flavorings" purportedly
  16. contain MSG.  I didn't mean that they were synonyms for MSG.

  18. The intent of my posting was to inform those who may be concerned about MSG
  19. one possible way to avoid it -- buy tuna in water, not oil.  I made no
  20. suggestions about MSG being dangerous.  I did nothing to instill "blind fear"
  21. in net readers.

  23. Then Jason Chen came along and felt he had to put things in perspective.  
  24. I resent it when someone claims to be putting things in perspective when they 
  25. are really just expressing their own views.

  27. I try to avoid doing anything that would be considered a personal attack or
  28. insult publicly on the net.  I was wondering if perhaps Jason knew someone 
  29. who had owned a Chinese restaurant that may have suffered financially because 
  30. of an MSG scare.  That might explain his defensive attitude on MSG.  I 
  31. consider this an honest question, not an insult, but chose to use email just 
  32. to be considerate. He replied:

  37. I think that this is the first time I've heard anyone ask to be insulted
  38. publicly on the net.  I then asked why he was refusing to answer my questions

  55. If anyone out there has a psychological analysis as to why net people get 
  56. so carried away and hostile, I would like to hear it, but via email, OK?
