- I use a combination of cinder blocks and 1 x 10 boards. Paint the cinder blocks
- black, and stain and polyurethane the boards and it makes a rather nice looking
- book case. You can use wider boards and make it a home entertainment center
- also.

- Cinder blocks are under a dollar a piece, and boards are reasonably cheap too.
- I find this a good alternative to paying the prices at furniture stores.
