  21.         The Center for Public Integrity has published a 
  22. decade-long study by Jacqueline Sharkey.
  23.  
  24.         Jacqueline E. sharkey is one of this country's 
  25. preeminent international investigitavie journalists. 
  26. During the past eight years, her investigative reporting 
  27. from Central America has won several national awards, 
  28. including an Overseas Press Club Citation for Excellence, 
  29. a Society of Professional Journalists Distinguished 
  30. Service Award, an Investifative Reporters and Editors 
  31. Award, and the Sidney Hillman Foundation Award. Her 
  32. articles on US policy in the revion, which appeared in 
  33. common Cause Magazine, helped lay the foundation for an 
  34. investigation of Col. Oliver North's private contra 
  35. network by a Senate Foreign Relations subcommittee, and 
  36. were used by investigators for the Iran-contra 
  37. congressional committees. Sharkey, a University of Arizona 
  38. journalism professor, is a former Washington Post copy 
  39. editor, and was a Fulbright fellow in Colombia. She has 
  40. B.A. and M.A. degrees in journalism from the University of 
  41. Arizona, and a master's degree in the study of law from 
  42. Yale Law School.

  45. in the preparation of:

  58.         I would have liked to exerpt portions of this study 
  59. for the interest of participants in the network. However, 
  60. discussions are presently under way for its' publication 
  61. as a book. It has been observed that PeaceNet participants 
  62. are a bit chintzy, and I would like to point out that if 
  63. you order this publication - now! - from the Center for 
  64. Public Integrity, you could probably do a better deal. Who 
  65. knows, increased demand might even obtain a better 
  66. royalties deal for Ms Sharkey. Wouldn't it be nice if the 
  67. good guys started doing well?
