- Both the modem and the serial port are accessed via the Z-80 SIO chip
- installed in the Hyperion. *IF* you can find someone with a copy of
- PC-TALK you will be able to use an external modem with the serial
- port. IF you can find a compiled version (it's a basic program) you
- might even be able to go up to 2400 baud. The internal modem is only
- 300 baud, and not even remotely Hayes compatable (in fact you write
- to a port to give it commands and read from another to find out status).
- I worked on the modem test set for this monstrosity, hang it up on
- the modem, it's not worth it. There was at one time a severely
- bastardized version of Xtalk floating around that would work with
- both the internal modem and the external serial port, but I have no
- idea where you would find a copy. I know I did get PC-TALK to run
- 1200 baud even uncompiled, but at the time didn't have access to a
- 2400 modem (this was back when 2400's cost $500).
