  15. I've gotten this message when I run out of swap space.  I've run out
  16. of swap space just by looking at a number of large files, even if I
  17. close some of them before I move on.  I betcha you are out of swap
  18. space when you get that message.

  20. Apparently emacs18 doesn't reclaim memory alloc'd for buffers or
  21. something like that, so browsing through big files can make emacs a
  22. memory hog.  Someone who knows precisely might post a more complete
  23. answer.
