- I've gotten this message when I run out of swap space. I've run out
- of swap space just by looking at a number of large files, even if I
- close some of them before I move on. I betcha you are out of swap
- space when you get that message.

- Apparently emacs18 doesn't reclaim memory alloc'd for buffers or
- something like that, so browsing through big files can make emacs a
- memory hog. Someone who knows precisely might post a more complete
- answer.
