  17. emacsclient is a program which works in conjunction with Emacs' server
  18. function, to make work in a multiple window environment easier. When
  19. server-start is called in Emacs, an inferior process is started which
  20. listens to calls from emacsclient. When emacsclient is started (instead of
  21. emacs), editing control switches to the Emacs window, instead of loading up
  22. a whole new copy of Emacs.

  24. A slightly easier way of looking at it is to imagine you have two windows
  25. on your monitor. The first window is a shell, the second is Emacs. If you
  26. type in your shell window "emacsclient .login," then the Emacs window will
  27. edit the file. When finished, typing C-x # will return control in the shell
  28. window to the shell.
