- not sure what you mean. i was suggesting (as an idea to be shot down
- or supported) that they remain semantically the same (i.e. not in the
- newsrc, and not in the 'j' command namespace) but have marks so that
- they can be eliminated from the display with a command that kills all
- newsgroups marked k, for example, or one that shows all newsgroups
- marked k.
-
- in other words, the same flexibility and power we (sort of) have for
- articles, we will have for newsgroups, and the commands will be the
- same.
-
- i suppose that moving them around makes no difference to the newsrc,
- and that you would be able to sort newsgroups by mark (just as i sort
- subjects by mark) to put the k groups at the end if one likes. maybe
- you will have a variable to keep them out of the 'j' namespace or not.
-
- anyway, i think it is nice to use marks to indicate what you want,
- instead of having modes and other things you have to remember. the
- basic functions and reasons for types of newsgroups can still be the
- same: killed newsgroups are out of the newsrc file or out of the
- namespace or are not shown, however you prefer.
-
- but the main thing is finding somebody willing to do the front end.
- if there is nobody to do it, then this is all idle talk. (i cannot.)
