-
- The pain of switching between buffers is an accident of the interface.
- Having a key bound to "switch to a buffer with a different view" is
- not much different than having a key bound to "switch this buffer to a
- different view."
-
- Also note, views do not have to be non-intersecting. A newsgroup
- might appear in more than one view.
-
- Having multiple buffers means you can see more than one view at a
- time. On a workstation with a windowing system, I might say, "What a
- pain to have to change a window's mode all the time, instead of just
- mousing over to another window."
-
- In any case, "single view with multiple modes" is a special case of
- "multiple views". "multiple views" can easily implement "single
- view", but not vice versa.
