  21. I know that #<file># backups left around can be annoying, but dired
  22. mode lets you get rid of them fast enough.  Perhaps the best thing
  23. would be for emacs the offer to delete or restore orphaned backups THE
  24. NEXT TIME IT RUNS.  In any case, I want to be able to keep them --
  25. they've saved my butt quite a few times, and I've been working with
  26. computers since 1978 (fortran on punch cards).
