  14. ANNOUNCEMENT AND CALL FOR ADDITIONAL PAPERS

  21. The conference this year comprises the conference itself, a choice of
  22. optional tutorials, a vendor exhibition and demonstrations.
  23.  
  24. TUTORIALS
  25.  
  26. The tutorials will be held on the morning of Thursday 24th September.
  27. Four subject areas are offered:
  28.  
  29. X Window System Administration,
  30. PEX programming,
  31. Starting off with X, and
  32. Debugging X Windows programs.
  33.  
  34. CONFERENCE
  35.  
  36. The conference commences at mid-day on Thursday 24th September and
  37. continues through the whole of Friday.  It will include major speakers
  38. from the USA such as Bob Scheifler, Donna Converse, Oliver Jones and
  39. Doug Young.  A wide range of topics will be covered including:
  40.  
  41. GUI tools in high level languages,
  42. fonts made easy,
  43. X in group working, and 
  44. Help via X Windows.
  45.  
  46. ADDITIONAL PAPERS
  47.  
  48. There is still an opportunity for you to present a paper on your
  49. favourite subject at the conference. To contact the paper committee, you
  50. should fax your name, address, telephone, email address and proposed
  51. topic of paper to the secretariat. Someone will then contact you to
  52. discuss further details.

  54. VENDOR EXHIBITION
  55.  
  56. The exhibition will be the only one dedicated to X and exhibitors will
  57. be showing products and services offered to the X community.
  58.  
  59. DEMONSTRATIONS
  60.  
  61. There will also be demonstrations by developers working within the X
  62. environment, plus video presentations of various applications.
  63.  
  64. COST
  65.  
  66. The conference fee is 250 pounds.
  67. Price includes refreshments and lunch, plus the conference dinner on the
  68. Thursday evening.
  69.  
  70. Optional tutorial fee is 50 pounds.
  71. Choose one of the above four subject areas.

  73. Accommodation - 27.50 pounds per person per night.
  74. Bed and Breakfast in en-suite rooms. Available Wed 23rd, Thur 24th and
  75. Fri 25th September.
