- Hello,
-
- Mr. Oliver Jones does an excellent job discussing the
- implementation of "Multi-User Application Software Using
- Xt" in the Summer 1992 issue of The X Resource.
-
- Mr. Jones mentions that the client must arrange for
- authorization to connect to multiple servers. We can
- handle the authorization problems, but we have run
- into another gotcha when opening the display.
-
- When the client attempts to open a server which
- is running XDM, the XtOpenDisplay blocks until someone
- logs into the server. This is not acceptable.
-
- How can we either:
-
- -- Query the server to determine that XDM
- is running and no one is logged in? (Or
- even better that a XtOpenDisplay will block.)
-
- -- Have XtOpenDisplay timeout?
-
- Thanks in advance.
