  13. here is a summary of responses I have received. Bottom line: no
  14. free lunch :-). I was looking for a tool to help me with my
  15. dissertation work. Nobody is going to give me the money needed for
  16. some of these powerful tools. I have been suggested to use WAIS and
  17. I am going to look into it. I have used XWAIS but I did not know
  18. that it may configurable for personal uses.

  51. Hmmm.  Let's see, I think it's **** for each end-user license (think of
  52. it as a library card allowing you to enter any branch of a metropolitan
  53. library system), and something on the lines of **** for a server license
  54. (akin to the charge to create the library and staff it with a librarian).
  55. A given user can simultaneously access many libraries, and a given server
  56. can serve many networked users and support many notebooks.  (Incidentally,
  57. the software server does not require a dedicated hardware server; many
  58. can run on a given machine).
