- I recently attempted to install X11R5p13 on my Sun 3/60 (SunOS 4.1.1). I
- was previously running X11R4 w/o porblems, but I cannot get X11R5 to
- even start. I am running a monocrome system through /dev/bw2. If I type:
-
- % xinit ; kbd_mode -a
-
- I get the following error:
-
- Fatal server bug!
- could not open default font 'fixed'
- X11: fatal IO error 32 (Broken pipe) on X server "(null)"
- after 0 requests (0 known processed) with 0 events remaining.
- ...blah blah blah...
-
- I have tried "xinit -fp /usr/lib/X11/fonts/misc". I started the
- fontserver and tried "xinit -fp tcp/gooter:7000". I reran mkfontdir in
- all of the font directories. I rebuilt the code from a fresh source
- tape. I scaned this news group and read the FAQ list. I get the same
- error every time. The only glimer of hope is "xinit -fn 6x13" gives the
- same error with 'fixed' replaced by '6x13'. The font server responds to
- fslsfonts so I know it can find the fonts.
-
- At this point I am stymied. Please help.
-
- Thank You in Advance
