- Hi,
-
- We're developing some XView 3.0 applications for use on Suns running
- OpenWindows 3.0 (Sun xnews server) and also on DECstations running mwm
- (standard DEC X11R4 server).
-
- The problem is: some applications have 'large' buttons (i.e. a bitmap
- image on a button) and they work just fine on the xnews server
- (OpenWindows 2.0/3.0)
-
- But, when we recompile using our converted 'XView 3.0 for DECstations'
- the bottom 6-8 pixels of each button are cut off (i.e. it's a
- bottom-less button). This makes the interface look a bit odd?!?! :-)
-
- Possibilities tried and failed:
-
- 1) "It's that crazy DEC server!"
-
- Nope, tried it on the Sun with a 'standard-issue' MIT R4 server
- and it still acted 'funny'.
-
- 2) "It's a bug in X11R4!"
-
- Nope, recompiled and ran it on the Sun with a 'standard-issue'
- MIT R5 server and it still acted 'funny'.
-
- 3) "It's a problem with the DevGuide generated code!"
-
- Nope, wrote some sample XView code by hand, and the symptoms
- were the same as the above. Oops, didn't mention that we were
- using DevGuide 3.0 also. :-|
-
- In conclusion, it seems that bitmap buttons are only correctly
- supported under Suns xnews server (based on X11R4).
-
- Is this a bug in the XView 3.0 toolkit?
-
- Has anyone seen this before and gotten it to work?
-
- Any pointers will be gratefully accepted.
