- Well, I was expecting about a six week wait since the sales lady said
- that the $40 upgrades were back ordered and it was 3-6 weeks till
- expected delivery. She said it might come earlier, and she was right!
- Only about 5 working days later, here it is! Took a long time to
- install (44 megs worth with everything but some of the example files
- installed), but now I have a new toy! I'll spend hours just figuring
- out how I want the color syntax bit set up. Any ideas?
-
- The Pharlap's free package was about what I expected, one disk and some
- advertising (propaganda) about their super deluxe model ($500!), guess
- I won't be ordering any! Well, free is free right? I'll have to see
- what the disk based docs say about it, and figure out if it's worth
- bothering with. After all, Borland has overlays... What do you think?
-
- Here is a compleat list of what I received:
-
- 1) card board shipping box (smile)
- 2) Phar Lap's propaganda and 1 high density disk
- 3) 7 page install pamphlet
- 4) License agreement and assorted product propaganda about other Borland
- products
- 5) U.S. & Canada registration related stuff (in envelope)
- 6) International registration related stuff (another envelope)
- 7) Quick reference card (most usefull of the bunch?)
- 8) 3.1 User's Guide 228 pages
- 9) 18 high density 5.25 disks (I got the application frameworks too)
- 10) 1 plastic entertainment toy (bubble pack)
-
- Well, on the more serious side, I'm gonna play with my new compiler for a
- while and determine if it was worth it. I'll have to check out the
- upgraded ability to work with precompiled headers (no longer have to be
- in teh same order) and see if that speeds things up. Also have to figure
- out how I'm going to arange to load dpmi before windows... I'm on a 286
- don't ya know.
