- I am having a problem with SCO ODT networking and was
- wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem and if
- there is a solution. I cannot connect to another machine on the
- Internet using telnet or ftp. I cannot even ping the machine.
- However, if I go to the host machine and ping the client machine
- the connection is established which sends the ethernet address
- of the host back to the client.
-
- I talked with one of our networking specialists and he
- thought that it might be a problem with the computers (486/33)
- being too fast in sending the ethernet addresses. We published
- our machines ethernet addresses permanently using the arp
- command. Everything worked fine and I assumed that the speed
- was indeed the problem.
-
- However, one of our contractors in St. Louis tried to
- connect to our host and had exactly the same problem. I pinged
- his machine and he connected and logged on without any further
- problem. I don't think speed is the problem now because it's a
- long way between St. Louis and Washington, D.C.
-
- Has anyone else experienced this problem and if you have do
- you know of a solution to the problem? I have TCP/IP and NFS
- running. I have uninstalled Lan Manager. Any help would be
- greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
