- Hello everyone,
-
- I have a problem using a Sun as a YP server for my DECstations. The
- problem manifests itself in a strange way: When trying to rlogin, if
- the default login name (or the login name specified with the -l flag
- to rlogin) is a valid login, then the connection will be immediately
- closed after you would normally be allowed in (i.e. after specifying a
- password, or after the .rhosts would be consulted). In fact, the only
- way to login is to use
-
- rlogin <host> -l <bogus name>
-
- hit return at the "Password:" prompt, and then enter a valid login
- name and password.
-
- When I called DEC, they said "Sorry, it's an unsupported
- configuration" (having a Sun as the YP master, that is). Does anyone
- have any more useful advice?
-
- Below is some relevant configuration information. Any suggestions
- would be greatly appreciated.
-
- -Rob
-
- YP Master:
- Sun 3/280, SunOS 4.1.1u1, 16M memory
-
- YP Client:
- DECstation 3100, ULTRIX V4.2 (Rev. 96)
-
- /etc/svc.conf has the following yp-related entries:
-
- aliases=yp,local
- group=yp,local
- passwd=yp,local
-
-
- /etc/passwd ends with:
-
- +::0:0:::
-
- and /etc/group contains only:
-
- +:
