  11. I am planning on purchasing a CD-ROM drive to be used on a 486-25 ISA
  12. bus computer running SCO UNIX SVR3.2.2 (soon to be upgraded to release
  13. 3.2.4).  The computer has the standard cards - SVGA, 2S1P + IDE +
  14. Floppy as well as a Marstek hand scanner and Digiboard PC8 serial port
  15. board.  I also run DOS and Windows on this machine so compatability on
  16. the DOS side is necessary.

  18. I am looking for any info that will help me make an intelligent
  19. purchase.

  21. Specific questions that come to mind are:

  23. Do I need to purchase a SCSI card?  What are the issues here?
  24.  
  25. Is drive performance something to worry about (i.e.  600ms as opposed
  26. to 300ms)?

  28. What features do you consider important?

  30. Are there any specific CD-ROM Drives to recommend?
  31.
