- Perhaps you have an incorrect setup or a bad cable. HP Laserjets with
- Postscript cartridges are tricky, especially if you're not careful with the
- front-panel options on the serial port (Robust XON and the other
- HP-specific options come immediately to mind).
-
- One other possibility. If this is a Pacific Page cartridge, and in
- particular an old one, you may have an old implementation. This has been
- known to happen.

-
- Yes, I have this working correctly. I run postscript (and HP-style) jobs
- all the time from Dell SVR4.
-
- These days (the last two months) I moved the printer to a PC running
- NOS+LPD, because I needed to move the printer a couple of hundred feet from
- the system unit. Thus, I don't have it on a serial port anymore. But it
- was.... and it did work quite nicely on a Digiboard serial port for several
- months.
-
- BTW, the Ethernet + NOS solution is faster :-)

-
- Boy, that'll do you a lot of good! They'll gladly sell you SCO at 4x the
- price for 1/2 the functionality, and won't support the HP printer in that
- configuration (third-party Postscript + unknown cable) either!
-

-
- Sounds like this guy's been seeing how many minutes he can put on your 800
- number at Dell...

-
- I second this -- my postscript printer works, and is set up correctly.
-
- And I'm running DELL SVR4.
-
- The problem ain't in the OS or print spooler; of that much I am quite
- certain.
