- Hi,
-
- I need help with customizing an xterm. My favourite editor is vi
- and the language in which I program is Fortran, the compiler available
- is for fortran77. Whenever I edit a fortran file (or even otherwise)
- using vi I would like to see the present position of the cursor displayed
- in the titlebar of the xterm, because of the fortran77 column rules..
-
- Is there any xterm lookalike, like kterm etc which supports this facility?
- I looked into the manpages of xterm and there was mention of making
- xterm emulate different sorts of terminals. I also sometimes
- use an ibm3151 (dumb) terminal which I specify as vt100 (maybe wrongly so)
- and use it. This terminal displays the column numbers at the bottom
- righthand corner of the screen. Is there any way I can make xterm emulate this
- terminal?
-
- I am pretty much ignorant about termcap entries, control codes and stuff
- like that and would also very much appreciate if anyone can give me pointers
- as to where I can find reading material on different types of terminals
- (vt100,vt220,tek...?), setting them up, customizing them, what and how to
- use control codes etc.
-
- thanx in advance to all of you for ur time and help
