  11. After a fstat()- or stat()-system call on a pipe I can find the number
  12. of bytes in the pipe in the st_size field of the struct. My question:
  13. can I count on this? Are there Unices around where this is not the
  14. case.

  16. I'm asking this because POSIX and X/Open state that this field is only
  17. defined for regular files.
