- Try turning off echo on the modem. In Hayes lingo this would be a "ate0".
- Some modems have a dip switch to do this. Your problem is the unix box is
- sending out a login sequence. The modem them echo's it back. The unix box
- thinks "someone" is trying to log in. The login is wrong of course so the
- login sequence is sent again. ETC.
