  12. The answer is NO.  From all the responses I got, it seems to me
  13. that OPTI + Tiny disk is not the problem.  It may be caused by
  14. something else -- my OAK vga or H/FD controller.

  16. Although some of the mailers indicated they have some minor
  17. problems, they all have bootable 386bsd-0.1 in hd.  The followings
  18. are the mails I got.

  38.    I have enough resources to spare to install the complete thing.

  44.    The keyboard locks if I push caps-lock or num-lock (linux also used 
  45.    to lock up when I pushed num-lock).

  53. You got it!  OPTI chipset with AMI BIOS dated 8/30/90 (or something like that
  54. date).

  56. And, YES, the disk won't boot (unless I set the bios to no hard drive, and
  57. reboot twice).

  60.        4 heads.]

  79.     I just thought I'd add that I had problems with an OPTI 386-wb
  80. chipset running Linux.  The problems would only go away if I disabled
  81. the hardware cache.  I have read references that some OPTI chipsets
  82. may be incompatible with 3-chip 1-meg SIMMS.  I'll try to provide more
  83. information if you'd like...

  89. If you include 486's I've been able to boot from the tiny disk using my
  90. 486/25 using the OPTI chipset and an Adaptec controller.  The system
  91. came from Broadax Systems (BSI).

  97. I have a no-name clone 386sx with OPTI chipset and AMI bios, albeit not
  98. Magitronic. I've had no trouble booting the Tiny 386bsd disk at all. I
  99. haven't tried to install it, though, as I only have 42Mb, and with 
  100. DOS and Linux already there...

  106. I have an OPTI chipset machine, a 486/33 with a ET4000 svga and a 200 meg
  107. drive.  I had many problems booting 386bsd v0.0, and v0.1 would not
  108. boot off a 3.5" floppy. But, it booted just fine off the 5.25", and
  109. I can boot off the hard disk just fine.

  123. and the floppy boots without a hitch...I haven't installed it to the
  124. hard drive yet, but everything seems in order...
