  11.   Just to add to the list of symptoms, usually when I recompile
  12.  the kernel, everything locks up; forcing me to reboot.
  13.  
  14.   I have verified that *nothing* is happening the machine has
  15.  halted.  There's no PANIC or anything, just stops.
  16.  
  17.   I have a 20MHZ 386, 9megs of memory and an ULSI FPU, with
  18.  a 240M IDE drive.
