- I'm trying to use an ultrix machine running 4.2BSD as an NFS server for my
- 386 box running 386BSD running 4.3BSD. On the server I've modified
- /etc/exports
- and started portmap, mountd, and nfsd. On the client I've modified
- /etc/fstab
- and insured the mount -t nfs is there. Now, when the mount -t nfs command
- is
- issued, it returns:
-
- Mount RPC error on raven:/tmp/jay: Permission denied
-
- In Essential System Administration by ORA it talks about the exportfs
- program
- that has to be run after modifying /etc/exports (Suns only, I think....)
- but
- there is no such program that I can find on the server or in the man pages.
- The man pages do allude to a '/etc/netgroup' file that controls NFS mount
- permissions, however there is no default file present and the man pages say
- nothing about how the security is determined.
-
- So, anyone out there with a helpful hint?
