  13. I'm trying to use an ultrix machine running 4.2BSD as an NFS server for my
  14. 386 box running 386BSD running 4.3BSD.  On the server I've modified
  15. /etc/exports
  16. and started portmap, mountd, and nfsd.  On the client I've modified
  17. /etc/fstab
  18. and insured the mount -t nfs is there.  Now, when the mount -t nfs command
  19. is
  20. issued, it returns:

  22. Mount RPC error on raven:/tmp/jay: Permission denied
  23.  
  24. In Essential System Administration by ORA it talks about the exportfs
  25. program
  26. that has to be run after modifying /etc/exports (Suns only, I think....)
  27. but
  28. there is no such program that I can find on the server or in the man pages.
  29. The man pages do allude to a '/etc/netgroup' file that controls NFS mount
  30. permissions, however there is no default file present and the man pages say
  31. nothing about how the security is determined.

  33. So, anyone out there with a helpful hint?
