  13. Well, I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but whenever I insert a boot disk into a compaq, it starts to read the 
  14. disk, then reboots (displays the ram count)...in an infinite loop.

  16. I got the newbootables.cgd off agate, made and installed the cksum (from the bsd tapes) on a SS2, and
  17. have the same cksum as the version I got...
  18.  
  19. I then did:
  20. cmp dist.fs /dev/fd0
  21. and got
  22. cmp: EOF on dist.fs
  23.  
  24. I also tried fixit.fs without success.

  28.  dd if=dist.fs of=/dev/fd0 bs=18k

  30. which I did, with the same results...

  32. Should I try machines other than Compaqs?
