  11. Ok, I know it's not good form to follow-up your own postings, but...

  13. I have just discovered that replacing the COM driver with the 
  14. bidirectional one from Chris (cgd@agate.berkely.edu) solved the
  15. problems I was having with screen over a serial line.

  17. Second, I'd like to point out something, and ask the "net-at-large"
  18. for a reasonable explanation.

  20. I copied the GENERICISA configuration file and *removed* the lines
  21. for ethernet devices (since I have none in my machine.)  I then
  22. configured that kernel, and built it; adding the new com driver.
  23.  
  24. Now, that driver isn't *too* different from the older one, and certainly
  25. without the 3 ethernet drivers, the kernel should be smaller.  But, 
  26. my new kernel is *MUCH* larger.  Here's the sizes:
