- Apparently the "Distribution: mit" line doesn't actually restrict the
- spread of the posting by very much, nor do people actually read
- postings too closely. I posted:
- >> For those of you following (or hacking on) 386bsd among the MIT
- >> community, there's a new mailing list "mit-386bsd" for us to get
- >> together and help each other with challenges.
- I got two requests from Berkeley (not unreasonable,
- considering the people involved, and I wasn't surprised that Berkeley
- would be getting an mit distribution -- MIT gets the ba (bay area)
- distribution. Besides, they had read the posting and had reasons to
- join the list anyhow.) Then I got a completely random one from someone
- in San Jose, and just a few minutes ago I got a request from someone
- in *Germany*.
- Please, folks, most of the people on this list actually read
- comp.unix.bsd; mit-386bsd is just for locally relevant discussions
- (such as "where can we put the sources to best share them" and "can
- anyone come over and look at my hardware".)
- Hopefully this message will go as far afield as the first one
- did...
