  13. I recently acquired a Quadra 700 for my lab and I am setting up A/UX 3.0
  14. on it. All has gone pretty smoothly, and I am impressed with the system.
  15. I have, however, a few questions that one of the readers of this group 
  16. will hopefully be able to answer for me.

  18. 1) I have set up set up nn 6.4.16, using the s-aux3.h header file which
  19. I snatched from "jagubox" (thanks guys!). I seem to have but one
  20. problem. I put a line to start up the daemon in /etc/rc:

  22. /usr/local/lib/nn/nnmaster -l -r -C
  23.  
  24. as suggested in the docs, but no daemon ever gets forked. Nnmaster does
  25. start up all right, and perform the check on the database, but then it
  26. gets a hangup signal and just quits. Has anyone else seen this?
  27. Running the above command line once loged on works just fine.

  29. 2) I am in fact upgrading both machine and O/S - from a IIsi running
  30. A/UX 2.0.1. I couldn't resist trying out 3.0 on the IIsi first. Well,
  31. things are pretty slow on a IIsi, especially the Mac OS. Still, I would
  32. like to buy a right to copy and run 3.0 on both machines. So I
  33. thought a performance upgrade in the form of a DayStar Universal
  34. PowerCache at 50 MHz would be a smart move. Does anyone have an opinion?

  36. 3) With regard to slowness - printing on a StyleWriter under A/UX really
  37. brings a IIsi to its knees - even with driver 7.2.2. Can I expect this
  38. to improve with such an upgrade?
