- A/UX uses both the DMA and the 6502 chips for serial support. This makes disk
- I/O much less draining on CPU and the A/UX drivers for the IIfx serial ports
- don't crash the Mac the way the IIx ones do. MacOS programs under A/UX benefit
- from both of these changes.

- Unfortunately, SCSI performance is still doggy (compared to a decent Unix
- machine or a Quadra, which has fine I/O), and serial support still sucks.

- SCSI-2 cards won't work with A/UX unless and until someone writes a driver
- for one. So far we've heard promises from at least two vendors. No products.
