  26. A/UX uses both the DMA and the 6502 chips for serial support. This makes disk
  27. I/O much less draining on CPU and the A/UX drivers for the IIfx serial ports
  28. don't crash the Mac the way the IIx ones do. MacOS programs under A/UX benefit
  29. from both of these changes.

  31. Unfortunately, SCSI performance is still doggy (compared to a decent Unix
  32. machine or a Quadra, which has fine I/O), and serial support still sucks.

  34. SCSI-2 cards won't work with A/UX unless and until someone writes a driver
  35. for one. So far we've heard promises from at least two vendors. No products.
