  22. In addition to the 150MB tape drive that you will need to load unix,
  23. you will also need either a unix driver for your GVP SCSI controller, or
  24. one of the three Commodore SCSI adapters in order of preference:

  26.     1) A2091
  27.     2) A2090A
  28.     3) A2090

  30. Its my understanding from the net that the designer of the A2091 now
  31. works for GVP and has designed GVP's newer SCSI cards.  Those new
  32. GVP designs might be close enough to the A2091, but I would bet against
  33. it..

  35. Other considerations: The minimum ram for unix is 4MB.  If you want 
  36. to use OpenLook with X, the documentation also recommends a minimum 
  37. 8MB ram.  Unix does not directly use chip ram, so it doesn't count 
  38. in this consideration.  (Chip ram _does_ count in determining how 
  39. many virtual screens you can access, but the 1MB chip ram gives you 
  40. all ten screens available.)  With your 120MB HD, you'll have to pick
  41. and choose packages from among the 292MB of files the complete tape has,
  42. particularly if you want AmigaDos on the drive too.

  44. I haven't heard of any 3000 unix specific rom code, but even if there 
  45. were, I don't see why the unix kernals couldn't take this into 
  46. account.
