  12. A couple of weeks ago I asked why files seemed to take up so much more room  
  13. under AIX.  My thanks to those who told me there was a 4 KB block size that  
  14. was, unfortunately, not configurable.  Some said that this has been the subject  
  15. of many complaints.  I can imagine.  I've never worked on a UNIX system that  
  16. you couldn't configure the block size.  Of course that wouldn't be so bad if  
  17. the size weren't so large!

  19. Now management has asked me to inquire if anyone knows if IBM has any  
  20. intentions of changing this in the future.  Is a global size required to make  
  21. the logical volume manager work?
