- A couple of weeks ago I asked why files seemed to take up so much more room
- under AIX. My thanks to those who told me there was a 4 KB block size that
- was, unfortunately, not configurable. Some said that this has been the subject
- of many complaints. I can imagine. I've never worked on a UNIX system that
- you couldn't configure the block size. Of course that wouldn't be so bad if
- the size weren't so large!
-
- Now management has asked me to inquire if anyone knows if IBM has any
- intentions of changing this in the future. Is a global size required to make
- the logical volume manager work?
