- Could anyone please tell me if PC-NFS works
- on a RS6000? Is there anything tricky I should
- know about?
-
- Also, I would appreciate hearing opinions on
- PCSIM. Does it work? Can MS Windows applications
- run on it? How is its performance in comparison to
- a PC?
-
- We are going to buy an entry level workstation
- and are trying to decide between an HP 705 or an
- IBM 220. Our main use for the machine would be to
- do floating point intensive Monte-Carlo calculations,
- so floating point speed is important. I understand
- that the HP is a little faster, and that HP-UX might
- be better developed than AIX. However, I have been
- offered a better price by IBM. Therefore, if the
- differences between the machines were slight, we
- would go with the IBM. We are physicists, and do
- not have the time or aptitude to do heavy system
- administration.
-
- I would apprecitate information and opinions!
-
- Thanks.
