- Hi,
- I have an RS6K 530H running AIX 3.2 which I have a couple of
- questions about:
-
- 1) Entries in the configuration database seem to have been corrupted.
- In some places in smit, the "rootvg" volume group and some of the
- logical volumes that it contains have spurious characters in their
- names. Here is the output from 'lspv':
-
- # lspv
- hdisk0 000015922ee778bb root8g <---- wrong!
- hdisk1 0000223796f33260 rootvg
- hdisk2 0000223796e1b9f6 rootvg B <---- wrong!
- hdisk3 0000223796e1bbc6 None
- hdisk4 0000223796e1bde3 None
-
- If I go into smit under "Change Characteristics of a Physical Volume"
- and ask it to give me a list of the physical volumes, I get:
-
- hd[Bk0 <---- should be 'hdisk0'
- hdisk1[ <---- should be 'hdisk1'
- hdisk2 <---- this one is OK
-
- What can I do to correct these entries in the database?
-
- 2) When running X-windows (started by typing 'xinit') on a color
- terminal which is connected directly to the 530H, periodically the
- terminal hangs when the user is trying to exit X-windows. I noticed
- that the default setup is not configured so that X-windows can be
- exited by exiting the window manager. Is it a no-no to terminate all
- of your X clients before shutting down the server? When the terminal
- hangs, even Ctl-Alt-Backspace won't free it.
-
- Thanks,
-
