- Hi,
-
- I am trying to set up a connection between 2 v.32bis modems on Sun sparc stations (one is a
- MultiModem MT1432, the other a Practical Peripheral 14400FXSA). The PP is always used
- as dial-in, the MM as dial-out.
-
- So far we have been able to make both talk at 9600 but only by turning error correction off at
- the originating modem, and even so the setup is flaky (PP picks up the phone very late (sometimes
- not at all, or just as the originator hangs up) even though S0 is set to 1 ring). And when I use tip
- hardwire on the PP and ask it to display its settings, only half a screen is shown.
-
- Part of the problem (and certainly the failure at error correction/compression) is that both modems
- are set for hardware flow control, whereas I assume the UNIX boxes are set for software control
- (Xon/Xoff). But I have no idea how I can change the UNIX setup to hardware control.
-
- Any suggestions?
